Last Weekend in my Simi Condo...

Saturday June 27th - Monday June 29th: I went back to Simi this weekend because the movers were coming to pack up my condo. The packing went well and it was a bit sad leaving my place since I had put so much work into it. But, on to bigger and better things!!

It was great to see lots of folks (I miss you guys!), especially Stephanie, Emily and Alex:

Happy Father's Day, Dad!!

I hope you and Mom are enjoying your trip and I can't wait to see your pictures :)

Saturday & Sunday, June 16th-17th: Not too much happening this weekend. I wasn't feeling all that well on Saturday so I laid low and did some shopping for the house (refrigerator, furnace/AC, the all-important BBQ...).

Of course I couldn't sit around all weekend so after church on Sunday I went for a hike. I decided to head to the mountains since it was pretty hot this weekend. This is Bierstadt Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park.

On the way back home, I was planning to photograph this spot, Moraine Park, but what a bonus to have this elk placed so nicely in the picture!

And per request from Emily and Alex, more moose pictures from last weekend!

Tune in next week!!

Another Beautiful Weekend in Colorado!!

Saturday & Sunday June 9-10th: Well, at the end of last week I was busy selling my condo! God has good timing I tell ya. I'm so glad the stress of trying to sell my place has been lifted. With everything going on, I wasn't able to go camping this weekend but I did go out exploring.

I drove down south through Boulder, West on I-70 through Golden, North/West on I-40 through Winter Park and then through Grandby and Grand Lakes and then East through Estes Park (over Trail Ridge Road). This picture is just south of Boulder.

A nice spot to stop and take a stroll or have a picnic. There were lots of animals through this cooridor from Grand Lake up to the Trail Ridge Road.

I saw three moose this weekend!! This big guy was right on the trail ~ he crossed the trail and was so close I couldn't get him all in the picture! I saw another moose on this same trail ~ by Grand Lake (~2.5hrs from my house) and another not far from here on another trail.

Of course, lots of elk in Colorado! This was a beautiful meadow just north of Grand Lake. I sat and watched them for a bit and then continued on my journey.

This little fox was jumping around the meadow ~ probably playing in the grass or hunting. He was fun to watch.

I think these mountain goats were posing for pictures! They were right along the road near the top of Trail Ridge Road (~11,000 feet up). There were actually quite a few of them but some scattered behind the bushes.

Just some neat scenery along the Trail Ridge Road:

Well, tune in next week to see what other neat things I can find!!

I have a House!!

Friday, June 1st: Well, the big excitement this weekend is that I put an offer on a house and they accepted! Although I was hoping to have a contract on my condo in Simi before making an offer, when you find pretty much the perfect house for you and there is another offer on the table (and the house has been in and out of contract twice in the past 20 days) you throw caution to the wind and jump in feet first! But here is what really sucked me in... I have a panoramic view from about the Flatirons to about Longs Peak and the photo does not do it justice so you will just have to come out and have a look for yourself! Lots of BBQing on the deck this summer!

And the house is pretty darn cool too. It has a full, unifinished walk-out basement and I plan to design a nice rec room. The kitchen is nice and open and the house is on a little over a quarter acre with a great backyard. Alex ~ I hear you already Google-Earth'd it :) I'm about 2 miles from the lake, 3 miles from work and in a nice golf course community. Mom & Dad need to come out and help me put in my garden :)

Saturday, June 2nd: With all the craziness with the house and getting a lot of the paperwork going, I decided to not go camping. But, I couldn't just sit around and not go exploring ~ I went north into Fort Collins and then followed the Cache le Poudre river into the canyon.

There were lots of rafters and kayakers...I am definitely signing up for a rafting trip this summer! Emily, Alex, Steph ~ remember when we went rafting in Wyoming??

I then went to Horesetooth Resevior to check out the lake and the camping. I will probably go camping here next weekend so I will save pictures until then.

Well, until next time: Happy Trails!!
